With regards to green procurement (which is a fairly new concept in SA) there are a few key aspects to look at. The main factor in green procurement revolves around carbon footprints.

Therefore, a greeen procurement strategy would be to decrease carbon footprints. This could be achieved by colorcoding your value chain and by doing this identify the areas that contribute the most to the carbon footprint.

This would become more relevant when global procurement is done in countries where carbon tax are levied - which could be a cost driver.
