Supplier Readiness - - B-BBEE Certificates?
There has been some discussion around the readiness of suppliers to respond to bids issued from 7 December 2011. One argument has been that suppliers will not be ready and that the verification agencies do not have the capacity to verify and supply certificates.
Public Sector companies do not have records on the number of suppliers with B-BBEE certificates and so there is lots of speculation on the topic.
We contacted two private sector suppliers both aho have in excess of 4000 suppliers. Their response to the question: What percentage of suppliers have B-BBEE certificates? In both intances the answer was 100%.
