Procurement skills to build competitive supply chains.
|
|
Hi
Procurementtips members that follow my posts will know that I am greatly interested in building competitive supply chains. I think that you should constantly strive to do better. This mean reducing cost, increasing sales, increasing asset utilisation, reducing risk, increasing customer satisfaction, reducing pollution and much more.
I also think procurement should take the lead in proposing, driving and owning projects that help deliver competitive supply chains.
One of the issues facing procurement departments that decide to pursue this vision is that of skills. What skills do you need, what skills are in the department, and how does the procurement department acquire the skills they do not have.
To answer this question, I suggest you have a look at a new Commerce Edge solution that enables procurement departments to initiate, manage and track the development of key world class procurement skills.
You can read more about it at http://www.smartprocurement.co.za/archives/procurement_talent_development_solution_launched.p hp
